I now understand the concept of the Trump Class Battleships. The point of the railgun over a turret of three 16-inch guns is to eliminate the powder bags and the bulky explosive shells. In addition, having a gun turret means several decks of complex machinery to support the turret and load it. The shells weigh approximately 2,000 pounds. In contrast, the railgun has no major moving parts. The railgun gun projectiles are not bulky, nor do they have explosive charges. We almost have our Battleships.

We are so close to having the firepower of yore. I have been writing to President Trump about building Trump Thunderclap-Class Battleships.The Navy's Top-Brass who are corrupt, likely agents of an enemy power, are trying to sell President Trump a substandard ship class that is not a Battleship.  A Battleship has to have big guns!
