I am addressing this because Congress members are appearing in a new "documentary" claiming that the government has space aliens and their spacecraft. Aliens face the same physics of space travel that we do. The distances to other solar systems are measured in light-years. E=mc² applies to aliens, too. I now understand the concept of the Trump Class Battleships. The point of the railgun over a turret of three 16-inch guns is to eliminate the powder bags and the bulky explosive shells. In addition, having a gun turret means several decks of complex machinery to support the turret and load it. The shells weigh approximately 2,000 pounds.
